AP US Government and Politics
AP Government and Politics: U.S. provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the operation of the U.S. government. American Government and Politics is the study of the foundations of American government, American Political Parties and elections, American governmental institutions, and American Governmental policy. This course will prepare the student to take the Advanced Placement Exam administered by ETS. As such it will be a rigorous course with a great deal of outside work and students are required to take the A.P. Exam.
Political Science CP
This course is designed to equip students with a basic understanding of the American system of government. We will start with a look at the philosophical roots of government, and the different types of government that result from the differing perspectives on the purpose of government. We will also examine the Constitution and the roles that the different branches of government play in our society.
Constitutional Law CP
This course is an in-depth study of the Supreme Court's rules on speech, press, privacy, searches, etc. The course covers how our Constitution operates and how the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 14th Amendments are protections for everyone. In the end, students will understand how the decisions of the nation’s highest court impact their own lives.
Civil Law CP
This course is an in-depth study of civil law. The course covers tort law, consumer law, and family law. In the end, students will understand how the civil law impacts their own lives.
Economics CP
In this class students will be looking at the ins and outs of the World Economic System. Students will be looking at the in and outs of the economy analyzing it on a small and large scale. Beginning with microeconomics and how markets work, and expanding out into macroeconomics studying these different systems around the world and how they work together by means of trade and other patters.
