With pride and spirit, the Senator Band represents Dover High School, the City of Dover and The State of Delaware and strives to entertain its audiences to the best of their ability. Also known as "The Pride of the Capital", the band has 150+ members, all members of our Dover High School Music Department (Band, Chorus and Strings). The band has traveled all over the east coast to compete in various festivals for bands. From the total group of players, approximately 38 are chosen by audition for the "band front" which consists of 2 drum majors, pom pon squad, silk squad and color guard. The band also has splinter performing groups. The two more popular groups are the Dover High Jazz Band and the "Rolling Thunder Drumline". Both groups have performed all over the state at local elementary schools, community events and other statewide venues. They have also earned many awards at different festivals up and down the East Coast including Canada, the Bahamas, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Virginia and New York. The Jazz Band has performed at many venues including playing for Hall of Fame MLB start Cal Ripken Jr. on the campus of the University of Delaware. The Rolling Thunder Drumline has performed for NASCAR including Dale Earnhardt Jr., the Philadelphia 76ers, Jon Bon Jovi and the Philadelphia Soul, and the Wilmington Blue Rocks.
