Welcome to Ms. Dixon's Agriscience Education Webpage at Dover High School!

The Agriscience Department is going through rapid changes in terms of classes, curriculum and our abundance of students. The Agriscience department may only offer elective courses, however we feel that our courses are beneficial and will enable our students to relate to agriculture, while being aware of the agriculture industry that surrounds them.

In Animal Science I, students focus on production animals and the understanding of where their food comes from (from farm to fork). Animal Science II explores advanced concepts in the animal science industry and they learn the safety and management skills required to care for small animals in the school's small animal lab. Animal Science III will explore the field of veterinary science as students learn the fundamentals required as a veterinarian technician.  Lastly, Animal Science IV is a deeper exploration of veterinary science with a focus on student inquiry and hands-on assignments.

Students will not only be required to participate in classroom and lab instruction, but also participate in their SAE (Supervised Agriculture Experience) project and one FFA activity per marking period. The agriscience curicculum in the state of Delaware requires three components in an agriscience program: classroom/lab instruction, SAE, and FFA. This year every student will participate in each component to ensure program success that reflects state curriculum requirements. Any student interested in joining the FFA may come see me to sign up.

It is my hope that my students become well rounded individuals who are aware and have an appreciation for Delaware's #1 Industry Agriculture.

Enjoy the webpage!
